Da den nye Køgevej blev til i 1935 medførte det, at Jægerkroen kom til at ligge hensigtsmæssigt for den nye vej. Den lidt krumme strækning ved Tranegilde Strandvej blev erstattet af den mere lige Ishøj Strandvej. Et forhold, der bevirkede, at den nye vej kom til at løbe nord for den gamle. En yders uheldig placering for Jægerkroen, da den på den måde, om man så kan sige, kom til at ligge med ryggen til den nye vej. Gode råd var dyre. Som et spændende blikfang for de mange, der dagligt passerede vejen, etablerede Lille Søren (kroværten) en krostue i form af en mølle på den anden side af den nye vej. Et andet blikfang blev en kinesisk portal fra Tivoli. Portalen var oprindelig bygget til en industrimesse i København 1888 og havde siden stået foran Tivolis indgang i København ud mod Hovedbanegården. I 1930érne var den blevet nedrevet. Lille Søren havde fået fat i den og havde stillet den ved indkørslen til Jægerkroen fra den nye betonvej. Jo, lille Søren på Jægerkroen havde sans for blikfang. Jægerkroen nedbrændte den 28. april 1975. Den kinesiske portal er blevet renoveret i 1991 og anbragt i Ishøj Dyrepark.
